I love sleeping, who doesn't? Unfortunately, many times I found myself struggling to have a quiet hour to collect my thoughts, or to exercise. I sit at my desk for 15-18 hours per day getting caught in the daily meetings and tasks. Plus, in the office I never have time to focus as I'm constantly interrupted by calls, problems or conversations. I needed a drastic change, and I found it in the daily routine of most of the people that succeeded in both life and work, rising early morning! So I challenged myself to educate my sleep and to wake up at 5AM for thirty consecutive days, although many studies agree that you only need twenty-one consecutive days to create a new habit, I wanted to be certain of the outcome. The sun cannot catch me in bed anymore, and this will allow me to have time to exercise in the morning and work the first two hours of the day without being interrupted. I noticed few things in the beginning, I was becoming a better planner as I was using my morning quiet time for organization, goal-setting and planning out days and weeks ahead. Plus, exercising early morning gave me more energy throughout the day to get all the tasks done in fewer hours than it usually took me. The best outcome of this experience has been more quality time with my family. Getting a jump on the day, I had more quality time in the evenings to spend with my family. Instead of bringing work home, now I can relax and unwind.
