Festivities are always a time for me to share with my family, in these few winter days you can breathe an air of joy, excitement and magic. Gatherings with family and friends, create the decorations, make the tree and start the countdown that will end with the beginning of the new year. Many say that these holidays have become too commercial, which is partly true, especially when the same people take the heat of gifts, others say it is more a celebration of Social Media because we all share our Christmas trees, the New Year holidays or our photos from remote destinations in exotic countries, but that is part of the life in the 21st century not of the winter holidays that represent pure feelings like love and giving. I don't personally like to give gifts or receive them, I'm almost against because they distort, especially in the younger generations the values that these festivities should transmit, generosity and affection, a time to give more than to receive, being the modern era too inclined to take and never give. Having a son I understand the complexity of protecting our kids from consumerism, advertising, and the desire to possess, but holidays like this are the ones that can help us to teach our children to give. It takes small gestures, teachings and show how to give and they will soon learn the pleasure and reward hidden behind. These holidays for me are the epitome of family and the importance of the presence instead of the presents. Happy holidays to everyone!
