Hiking in the Apennines
We just returned to Montenegro, but in our stay in Italy we visited several places that are worth a mention and our recommendation, so in the coming days I'll be sharing our Italian adventures in the hope you'll find the time to visit them as well. The day we arrived in Italy we decided to go to the mountains for a hike. I knew the perfect place for it, just few kilometers from Modena you'll find a beautiful mountain which is also the highest peak of the area and Northern Apennines. The Monte Cimone is a popular ski destination during winter, and a place for refuge from the hot summer days, but my favorite time to visit is during the autumn months where the temperature is very good, there are no tourists and autumn colors mingle with the evergreen trees that dominate the peak. We tried to reach the top but we stopped just a couple of hundred meters from the highest point in altitude because after two hours of walking my traveling companions, Katya and André Leon, began to be hungry. To overcome this technical problem we headed to Sestola, one of the villages that are at the foot of Mount Cimone and we went to a traditional restaurant where we ate exquisitely. Definitely a place to go if you want to walking in the nature, and for toddlers to walk on the grass while enjoying the breeze up on the peak is a pleasant discovery.
